About tea caddies:
Tea caddies were once highly prized receptacles for storing tea. When tea was first introduced to Europe, it was costly and often kept under lock and key. As such, caddies were designed to be both practical and decorative, complementing the elegance of the room. By the late 18th and early 19th centuries, fine examples were commonly made from mahogany and rosewood, while larger versions were known as tea chests.
